The NFC East (NY Giants)

  • When it comes to football betting, the NFC East is a great place to start. With all the tradition and hatred between these 4 teams it’s no wonder that matchups between these teams are always ratings winners. The Giants, Eagles, Cowboys and Redskins head into the 2009 season all with varying chances of claiming the title. So sit back and let’s talk some football, NFC East style.

The football betting odds makers have the teams ranked in the order above so for our purposes we’ll do the same and start with the 2008 World Champion New York Giants. This team is loaded again and used the draft to make themselves even better. Eli Manning, who was once booed mercilessly in New York, is now a hero. He has grown into the role and his low key style which took fans some getting used too has finally caught hold. That southern drawl takes some getting used to apparently. He has become a quarterback who avoids the big mistake and with the running game he has it is a perfect combination. (On a side note, many believe the Dallas Cowboys should take the Giants game plan as well which is run, run, run and when you throw, don’t throw it to the other team.)

The running back stable is fierce with a power of three all with different styles and abilities. This combination is perfect for the bad weather days ahead in the NFC East and remember that trends and field conditions can play a big role in the football betting pools across the USA. The ground game of the G men is one area of no concern whatsoever.
With Plaxico Burress now officially gone, the wide out department does leave open the door to problems. Burress was the deep threat and with him out of the league while the gun charges proceed, the question is will this affect the Giants attack and if so how much. Could Burress being gone make for a rough year for Eli Manning? Football betting experts don’t seem too concerned just yet.

And that leaves us with the defense that seems as poised as ever to bring havoc to the backfields of the rest of the NFC East division. Yet there is a question to be answered. With defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo now the head coach of the Rams, will we see a drop off in that defense.
